About This Role
As the Leading Hand - Roads Maintenance, you will effectively lead the on‑site activities of Council's Roads Maintenance Team, utilising specialised equipment along with high level competency‑based skills and knowledge to perform a range of asset and infrastructure maintenance activities throughout the municipality.
Position Objectives
* Lead on‑site activities of Council's pavement network, including roads, off‑street car parks, road shoulders, kerb and channel and shared paths, in accordance with the requirements of Council's Road Management Plan and Road Asset Management Plan.
* Lead a team performing specialised maintenance and construction activities on Council's assets and infrastructure.
* Ensure own work performed and that of any employees under supervision is of a high quality and meets the required service levels and standards set by Council. Assist across any area of the maintenance operations where work priorities demand, helping to achieve the overall maintenance objectives of the Roads Maintenance Team and City Presentation.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have the ability to motivate and lead crew members in a small team environment whilst having a high level of knowledge in respect to current practices and industry standards in relation to road maintenance.
Qualifications and Experience
* Current Heavy Rigid Vehicle licence as a minimum.
* Competency operating plant and vehicles used in road maintenance.
* Practical experience undertaking road and drainage maintenance and construction works.
