About the role
We are seeking motivated Customer Development Managers to join our team, with flexibility to be based at any of our depot locations. This role is ideal for candidates with an engineering background, including those who may have worked in other fields and are looking to return to or refocus on the electrical industry. Your technical understanding will support informed decision‐making as you work closely with customers and internal teams. You will take ownership of major customer extension projects, managing relationships end‐to‐end and ensuring requirements are clearly understood and delivered. The role has direct influence on CAPEX, cash flow, profitability, and RAB growth, making it a key contributor to our commercial and operational outcomes. Strong stakeholder management is essential, as you will negotiate and manage Connection Agreements for major customers within your region, ensuring alignment with the National Electricity Rules.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the relationship with the Customer to ensure Customer, Company and regulatory requirements in relation to customer projects are met
* Build and enhance relationships with Customers, service providers, the community and organisations to support the achievement of business objectives
* Manage preparation of all technical and financial documentation to obtain project approval in accordance with Delegation of Authority Business requirements including approval presentations
* Manage the process to engage with key internal stakeholders including Electricity Networks, Finance and Legal to undertake all works relating to major projects
* Manage all Network Responsible Officer duties associated with major customer projects to ensure project scope is met in line with budget, time and quality requirements and projects are closed out
* Ensure the Customers offer is issued in accordance with business systems and processes and in consideration of regulatory obligations and Customer expectations
* Contribute to a workplace culture that is focused on workplace improvement and delivering best practice services that meet customer goals
What you'll need from day one
* Extensive experience in the electrical utility industry, including involvement in large‐scale infrastructure projects, network operations, and the delivery of reliable power systems
* Extensive experience in stakeholder negotiation and in developing clear, comprehensive project scopes and proposals
* Extensive experience in contract negotiation and managing project financials
* Hold Diploma of Engineering (Electrical) with a Certificate of Technology (Electrical) or relevant Bachelors Degree qualification in Engineering (Electrical)
* Hold a business, legal, project management, masters, or other commercially related degree, along with experience in the electrical utility industry
