Director – EY Finance – CFO Advisory

The opportunity

As Director in our CFO Advisory Team, you will work with a wide range of clients on a broad range of issues that matter to their businesses. These will include middle market businesses through to some of the world's largest companies. You will assist our clients as they experience significant changes and may include preparing for significant transactions (both sale and purchase), assisting with preparing for financial audits or audit remediation.

This is a hybrid position based in Warrang – Sydney. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your key responsibilities

* Proactively lead all aspects of engagements including planning, approach, stakeholder management, commercial engagement outcomes, risk management and building and maintaining high performing teams (including coaching and mentoring).
* Work collaboratively with our clients on a wide range of engagements such as: Understanding and assessing the impact of current, proposed new or revised accounting standards (AAS, IFRS) on an entity's business, their transactions and their financial accounting and reporting, and assisting them to practically interpret and implement solutions.
* Working as an integral part of the client's deal team across the transaction's lifecycle (including pre deal and post deal) to provide insights on the potential accounting impacts and outcomes, e.g., IPO, equity/debt raising, acquisitions, divestments, and financial buy‐side and sell‐side due diligence.
* Assist with post‐deal implementation related accounting and reporting matters. Participating in overall practice strategy development and leading strategy execution.
* Driving business development plans through strong professional networks and preparing and delivering proposals. Working closely with the NZ Account teams to drive client relationships.
* Developing and maintaining long‐term productive client relationships.

Skills and attributes for success

* Possess a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, business, finance, and be a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, CAANZ, or an international equivalent.
* Demonstrated ability to quickly develop, build, and manage relationships with multiple clients and teams, both external and internal. Experience working with senior stakeholders on multiple engagements.
* Have at least 12 years relevant experiences (Professional services would be highly regarded).
* Ability to grasp complex technical accounting issues and explain them clearly to stakeholders.
