Offer description

The Australian Digital Health Agency leads the national effort to digitally enable Australia's health system. We support the delivery of person-centred, connected healthcare through the development and adoption of digital health services and systems. Our work includes managing My Health Record, Electronic prescriptions, and the 1800MEDICARE app, ensuring a healthier future for all Australians through connected healthcare.

About the Role

As an EL1 Assistant Director Financial Assurance (full-time, ongoing), you will lead the Agency's financial management assurance program and financial management compliance system, operating with a high degree of independence. In this role, you will provide leadership to a small team of two staff and apply sound judgement and decision-making to ensure strong financial governance across the organisation. You will be responsible for the ongoing development and delivery of the annual financial assurance program, establishing and maintaining a comprehensive financial management framework, including associated policies, and administering the Agency's financial compliance management system.

This role requires a proactive and strategic approach to strengthening financial practices, ensuring alignment with legislative and policy requirements, and driving continuous improvement in assurance activities. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to promote compliance, build organisational capability, and provide expert advice on financial management matters.

Skills and Experience

* Demonstrated experience in financial management assurance, compliance frameworks, and governance.
* Relevant qualifications or experience in finance laws and policies and/or procurement and contract management obligations.
* Strong knowledge of Australian Government financial regulations, policies, and legislative obligations, with the ability to apply these effectively in practice.
* Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and continuously improve assurance programs, frameworks, and control environments.
* Experience leading and supporting staff, including providing clear direction, coaching, and performance management.
* Demonstrated experience working within a Federal Government environment, with a strong understanding of APS processes, expectations, and accountability frameworks.

We offer a competitive 15.4% superannuation contribution, salary packaging options, and a Christmas closedown with no leave deduction. Our wellbeing program and EAP support a healthy work–life balance, while flexible work arrangements opportunities, including work from home, give you choice in how, when and where you work. You will enjoy modern collaborative workspaces and generous study support to employees who are eligible, as per our study assistance guidelines in our Enterprise Agreement. We also provide a wide range of leave options including parental, cultural, compassionate, emergency response and defence leave. EL staff may access time off in lieu (TOIL) for reasonable additional hours worked, subject to the recording of those hours.

Australian citizenship is mandatory. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a national police clearance and the required Baseline security clearance, with the ability to attain a higher-level clearance if needed.
