**The Position**
The Communications Assistant serves to assist the Communications Officer with responsibility for aspects of internal and external communications of the School, events, and ensuring consistency of branding and communications across all areas of the School, as well as ensuring that staff and students are well informed. Activities may include: outreach and marketing, branding, compliance, event logistics and advertising, regular production of newsletters and social media posts, and website updates.
**The Person**
You will be experienced in all elements of the job description, and especially in events management, and will have highly developed skills in organisation, logistics and time management. You will also enjoy working in a small collaborative team in the higher education space, and be results driven and able to meet deadlines. This role includes working hours which may be slightly flexible (including some after hours events). Those with family, caring, community and cultural responsibilities are encouraged to apply.
**The School**
The Fenner School of Environment & Society operates within the ANU College of Science. The School is concerned with environmental sustainability in contexts from local to global, undertaking interdisciplinary teaching and research. Supporting an academic staff of approximately 60, +120 PhD scholars, a postgraduate coursework student cohort of +80, and approximately 500 undergraduate students each semester is a support staff of approximately 25 people organised into functional teams: Student Administration, Human Resources and Finance, Communications and Marketing, IT and Technical Services (laboratory and fieldwork). The services provided by support staff within the School are integrated with the Science Administration group at the College level.
**The College**
The ANU College of Science encompasses the disciplines of: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environment and Society, Mathematics, Physics, and Science Communication and is also home to a number of cross-disciplinary and specialist Institutes and Centres.
