Duties

As a member of the Division’s senior management team, provide leadership and direction in developing and managing the department's strategic and business framework, including the development of policies, systems and processes to support the delivery of services to the Tasmanian community.

Provide specialist advice in relation to issues relating to the implementation of the Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government's responses to child sexual abuse in institutional settings (the CoI), Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse (the Royal Commission) and the Weiss Independent Review into former police officer Paul Reynolds (the Weiss Review).

The Head of the State Service has determined that a person nominated for appointment to this position is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment. Such offences would include, but are not limited to:

- Arson and fire setting;
- Sexual offences;
- Dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud);
- Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);
- Making false declarations;
- Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
- Malicious damage and destruction to property
- Trafficking of narcotic substance;
- False alarm raising.

Desirable Requirements

- Tertiary qualifications in a discipline relevant to policy and planning and/or management is highly desirable.
- A current car drivers’ licence.
