Counsellor – Catholic Care – Tennant Creek

* Family & Relationship Services (FaRS)
* Counselling for Catholic School Students
* Supporting Children After Separation

* Children & Parenting Counselling (including support for families affected by alcohol, other drugs, or family violence)
* Domestic Violence Counselling
* Crime Victims Support

The Role:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Counsellor to join our cohesive and supportive team in Tennant Creek. You will provide high-quality, responsive, and culturally appropriate counselling and groupwork services to individuals, couples, and families, supporting them through key family development and transition points.

You will deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including family therapy, individual counselling, and group work, tailored to the needs of children, young people, and adults.

Key Responsibilities:

* Deliver individual and group counselling to support safe, nurturing, and resilient family relationships.
* Provide child-focused, trauma-informed interventions, including play therapy, to improve wellbeing outcomes.
* Maintain accurate case notes, data, and reports in line with program requirements.
* Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, schools, community organisations, and government agencies.
* Participate in supervision, reflective practice, and evaluation activities to ensure high-quality service delivery.
* Adhere to CatholicCare NT's safeguarding children policies and professional standards.

About You:

You are a compassionate, culturally competent team player with the ability to work with families in challenging circumstances. You demonstrate:

* Relevant qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work (with evidence of counselling study if Psychology or Social Work).
* Experience working with children, young people, adults, and families.
* Membership or eligibility to join PACFA, AASW, or ACA.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and case note writing skills.
* Cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous clients.
* The ability to work with initiative, reflection, and accountability.
* Requirements
* Australian Citizenship or unlimited work rights.
* Satisfactory criminal history check and Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card.
* Valid NT Driver's Licence.
* Six-month probation period.
