Career Employment Australia Ltd are currently recruiting for a part-time Education Support Officer for the Indigenous Youth Mobility Pathways Project (IYMP) in Cairns. IYMP assists Indigenous youth (16-24 yrs) from remote regions to relocate to Cairns to undertake vocational training, university study and Australian Apprenticeships. IYMP provides education, accommodation, life skills and mentoring support to participants engaged in the project.
The Education Support Officer works cohesively with the Project Coordinator and is responsible for:
* Overseeing each participants educational progress.
* Developing, reviewing and updating training plans by setting out training goals, personal goals and sustainable employment goals.
* Sourcing education, training and work opportunities for IYMP participants.
* Providing mentoring for each participant.
* Identifying issues and referring to specialist services as required.
* Developing and maintaining links with ABSTUDY, Group Training, Australian Apprenticeships, TAFE, other RTOs and Universities and their Indigenous support units.
* Establishing and maintaining links with all relevant support programs or services within their IYMP Host Location and visiting Indigenous communities within their region.
* Maintaining accurate and up to date information for IYMP Reporting.
Part-time role undertaken 3 days per week (22.8hrs/week) during office hours 7:30 am - 5:00 pm. Start and finish times are negotiable for the right candidate.
Candidates must demonstrate: a deep understanding of Indigenous culture, previous experience supporting youth, strong planning and decision making skills, experience with community engagement, excellent written and record keeping skills and a good understanding of vocational education, university education and Australian Apprenticeship systems.
A current drivers licence, ability to obtain a federal police check and valid working with children card are essential.
