Position Summary
The Senior Management Accountant plays a pivotal role within the firm, acting as a key point of contact for client portfolios and ensuring the delivery of high-quality accounting services. This position is responsible for supervising Management Accountants, providing guidance and oversight to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all client-related financial processes. The Senior Management Accountant works closely with the Manager and Senior Leadership, supporting the preparation of management accounts, financial statements, and regulatory reporting. The role requires strong communication skills to liaise with clients, address inquiries, and facilitate seamless onboarding and ongoing service delivery, while upholding the firm's standards of professionalism and client care.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain accounts payable and receivable ledgers, including performing bank reconciliations and processing journal entries.
* Support banking operations and payment processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Address client inquiries promptly and accurately, delivering high-quality client service.
* Prepare management accounts and execute month-end close processes for client portfolios.
* Prepare and lodge monthly and quarterly Business and Instalment Activity Statements in compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Assist with onboarding new clients by establishing systems, work papers, and operational processes tailored to their needs.
* Prepare annual financial statements for companies and trusts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
* Provide relevant financial information to the Business Services Team to facilitate the preparation of income tax returns for companies and trusts.
* Manage ATO registration matters and ensure all statutory obligations are met for clients.
* Keep management and partners informed of progress and promptly escalate any issues or concerns.
* Communicate effectively with clients and key business stakeholders on a broad range of financial and business matters.
* Assist with practice management tasks, including managing team workflow and overseeing client billings.
* Implement and monitor financial policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance.
* Analyses financial data and trends to offer strategic insights and actionable recommendations to senior leadership for client business planning and decision‐making.
* Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, perform variance analysis, and report findings to management and clients.
* Lead or participate in financial audits and coordinate with external auditors to ensure successful audit outcomes.
* Identify and drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency within finance operations for clients.
* Support the development and training of junior accounting staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the team.
* Prepare ad‐hoc financial reports and presentations for external stakeholders as needed.
* Collaborate with other departments to support cross‐functional projects and initiatives impacting client financial performance.
* Ensure timely compliance with all tax obligations and statutory reporting deadlines for clients.
* Monitor cash flow and liquidity to support clients' operational requirements and strategic objectives.

Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* 3‐5 years' experience working in an accounting related role.
* CA/CPA (or equivalent) qualified or working towards.
* Experience of Xero or other cloud accounting packages would be beneficial.
* Experience in process improvement and implementation of best practices in finance operations.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with accounting software.
