Assistant in Nursing - Perioperative Unit
Mater Private Bundaberg seeks an Assistant in Nursing to join the team within the Perioperative Team on a permanent full-time basis. This role involves working across the Perioperative Unit, including Operating Theatres, CSSD, Day Surgery, and Preadmission.
The successful candidate will assist and support the clinical teams in the provision of safe and quality patient-centred care under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse.
* Gathering information about patient care needs through observation and notification to senior clinical staff of identified changes in the health and functional status of patients;
* Undertaking observations and assessments;
* Following the direction and delegation of the appropriate senior clinical staff member;
* Assisting with personal hygiene, appearance, and dietary consumption needs;
* Maintaining a safe, sanitary, and secure environment for patients;
* Adhering to care plans to contribute to optimal care outcomes in collaboration with members of the clinical team(s);
* Ensuring episode of care documentation is in accordance with applicable Mater frameworks, policies, procedures, work instructions, forms, and guidelines;
* Organising workload to prioritise critical care processes in consultation with the appropriate senior clinical staff member;
* Contributing to the holistic care of patients by contributing to their overall comfort and wellbeing;
* Couching, mentoring, and supporting colleagues where appropriate.
To be successful:
* A minimum Certificate III qualification in Individual Support or Health Services Assistance, or studying towards equivalent or higher qualification;
* Prior comparable experience as an Assistant in Nursing or Personal Care Attendant/Assistant (desired);
* Digital and computer proficiency, extending to Microsoft 365 applications.
