Data Management Technical Lead (2-year fixed term)

The role
APRA is embarking on a transformation journey to simplify and better leverage organisational capabilities associated with using data. A key part to this transformation journey is a maturing of data management and governance processes and methods.
This role, alongside other key program stakeholders (Solution architects and Business Analysts) the will help define, estimate and lead transition workstreams that move APRA to the desired target state technology landscape.
The tech lead role will play a key part initially in the selection, and subsequent implementation of enterprise data management and governance tooling.
The team
This role resides within the Chief Data Office and works closely with other senior technical specialists. This role will report to the Senior Data Stream Lead and works exclusively within APRA's data transformation program.
Key responsibilities

* An ability to lead the evaluation and procurement of enterprise data management (Data catalogs, DQ Tooling, Line and data governance tooling
* Define the implementation roadmap of data management and governance capabilities aligning with the organisation's strategic goals
* Act as a technical SME helping to advise how to best utilise the software to enable the data management and governance requirements
* Lead a team of analysts, engineers and testers in the rollout and use of enterprise data management and data governance tooling - ensuring adherence to technology policies (e.g. Security)
* Facilitate workshops and technical discussions to promote knowledge sharing and alignment across teams
* Ensure documentation of all architectural decisions, designs, and processes
* Experience in working with data governance teams in the implementation of organisational data policies and data stewardship

About you

* 5+ years of experience as a Tech Lead, or in a related role with a strong focus on modern data architectures and data management
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
* Experience with deploying data management toolsets (e.g Collibra, Alation) at an organisational level
* Experience and exposure to agile delivery methodologies
* Strong understanding of governance tools
* Strong understanding of data architecture principles, data governance, data quality, privacy and security controls
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex systems and propose actionable solutions
* Experience in regulated industries, with a focus on data protection and compliance
* Experience with procurement of Enterprise platforms is advantageous
* Knowledge of regulatory reporting standards is advantageous
* Executing for outcomes and a problem-solving mindset will be equally valued alongside technical proficiency

To work with us, you must be an Australian citizen with eligibility to gain a Security clearance through the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.
