Our client, a prominent and highly reputable player in the construction industry (Tier 1 Contractor ), is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join a strategic project team in New South Wales (NSW).
This senior role is critical to ensuring the successful, high-quality delivery of a complex major road/highway infrastructure project (new construction, including significant bridge works and associated structures). You will serve as the technical quality expert, providing leadership, auditing, and compliance assurance across all project stages.
Key Senior Responsibilities
Your expertise will be crucial in the following areas:
Quality Strategy: Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive project Quality Management Plans, including complex Inspection and Test Plans, aligned with client requirements and the highest industry standards.
Audit and Leadership: Lead thorough internal and external quality audits across project sites, fabrication facilities, and supply chains. Provide technical leadership in ensuring quality compliance.
Operational Control: Oversee and validate all Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities throughout the construction lifecycle, up to the final handover of the works.
Documentation & Closure: Manage the entire quality documentation system and oversee the progressive closure of work packages in preparation for client handover.
Non-Conformance Resolution: As a senior point of contact, you will be responsible for investigating major defects, determining root causes, and implementing effective Corrective and Preventive Actions in collaboration with Project Management.
Continuous Improvement: Develop, drive, and evaluate continuous improvement programs based on statistical data analysis and project performance.
Compliance Guardian: Ensure full project compliance with company policies, relevant legislation, and international quality standards, specifically ISO 9001 .
Strategic Reporting: Provide essential support for quality reporting to senior management and participate in strategic coordination meetings with stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications
We are seeking a candidate who brings:
Tier 1 Experience (Essential): Significant and proven prior experience in a similar Senior Quality Engineering role on large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., major highways, tunnels, rail, civil works) within a Tier 1 construction firm.
Education: A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
QMS Expertise: Essential and in-depth working knowledge of Quality Management Systems based on standards such as ISO 9001 .
Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Leadership Qualities: Excellent communication, leadership, complex problem-solving, and senior stakeholder management skills are mandatory.
