We’re a family-run business, deeply rooted in values that span generations. As we expand, we’re looking for an Assistant Farm Manager to join us on this exciting journey and play a pivotal role in the future of Rombola Family Farms in Griffith, NSW.

About the Role:

The Assistant Farm Manager will support the Farm Manager in overseeing day-to-day farm and harvest operations, ensuring efficient and productive farming practices. This role is hands-on, involving both leadership and strategic input, working to achieve high yields and quality outcomes.

Key accountabilities include:

•Assist in coordinating and supervising all farming activities including planting, harvesting, and general crop care and ensure all are completed on time and within budget

•Assist in directing and monitoring the process of growing & cultivating crops

•Ensure the farm has the highest possible equipment availability and to maintain farm buildings, fences, equipment, and water supply system.

•Liaise with maintenance teams to ensure preventative and breakdown maintenance is completed promptly, keeping equipment availability high.

•Contribute proactively and constructively to team discussions about production requirements based on consumer, production, and supply chain needs.

•Manage supply chain resources to ensure product flows efficiently from field to market, ensuring all product is picked, packed, and sold within timelines and budgets.

•Ensure the supply chain team has timely access to harvest forecasts for informed operational and marketing decisions.

•Plan and manage harvest resources, ensuring equipment pre-start checks are completed daily and crews are organized in advance.

•Set and oversee daily/weekly harvest plans with growers to maximize yield and ensure quality.

•Monitor harvest crews to ensure operations meet WHS requirements, suitable fruit is picked, and activities run efficiently

•Work closely with the QA team to ensure harvested fruit meets quality specs

•Continuously communicate with the supply chain team to provide real-time updates on harvest volumes and resource needs.

•Assist in managing the allocation of human resources to specific tasks based on skill and reliability.

•Foster teamwork, mentor staff, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

•Manage budgets, resources, and strategic decisions.

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

•A strong background in horticulture or agriculture, with experience in large-scale crop production.

•Knowledge of irrigation systems and plant nutrition.

•Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team

•Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset

•Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

•Proficiency in basic computer applications

•Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets.

•Sound working knowledge of WH&S requirements.

•A current driver’s licence.

Number of positions available : 1

Renumeration : $80,000 - $100,000 per annum.
