Job Description

\

The role of Haematology Laboratory Assistant involves supporting the activities of the Haematology Laboratory. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including stock control, sample preparation and testing, equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, cleaning, and general administrative duties.

\

Located in the heart of Sydney at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, the Haematology department offers specialized diagnostic testing. The laboratory operates 24/7, providing comprehensive blood count analysis, specialized coagulation testing, morphology assessments, and advanced services such as flow cytometry, thalassaemia screening, and stem cell transplant support.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist with laboratory support and specimen reception services
\
2. Perform stock control, ordering goods and services, and liaise with vendors
\
3. Provide assistance to laboratory staff under supervision to deliver a patient-focused service
\
4. Maintain high-quality work output while managing competing priorities
\
5. Demonstrate excellent data entry skills and attention to detail
\
6. Investigate and resolve general issues within the laboratory environment
\
7. Communicate effectively with customers, patients, and clinical staff
