With an additional underpinning belief that all behaviour is communication, every student has the right to have a voice and to be heard, SPESC makes this possible through the use of various modes of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) such as Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display books and communication devices, Auslan and Key Word Sign.

SPESC is one of five support centres in Western Australia to offer a specialised learning program for children in Kindergarten and Pre-primary with Global Developmental Delay (GDD) and Autism (ASD).
Through the Early Intervention Program students work mostly one-on-one in an explicit instruction model designed to prepare children for Year 1 at their local mainstream school.
