About the Opportunity
Hatchit Studios is seeking a
Senior Automation & Virtualisation Infrastructure Engineer
to support a large-scale federal government ICT environment within a highly skilled infrastructure operations team.
This role is
hands-on and platform-focused
, with a strong emphasis on
VMware Aria Automation (formerly vRealize Automation)
and
VMware NSX
, supporting the ongoing operation, optimisation, and uplift of enterprise on-premises infrastructure platforms.
The successful candidate will play a key role in
driving automation maturity
, ensuring platform stability, and supporting both BAU operations and emerging infrastructure initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Administer, enhance, and support
VMware Aria Automation, Aria Orchestrator, Aria Operations, NSX and Site Recovery Manager
* Maintain and optimise
VMware vSphere and Cloud Foundation
environments
* Support enterprise on-premises infrastructure, including
rack-mounted and blade servers
* Develop and maintain
automation workflows
and infrastructure-as-code artefacts
* Produce high-quality
design, build, operational and handover documentation
* Provide BAU operational support with some crossover into project-based technical work
* Share knowledge and mentor junior engineers within the team
* Participate in on-call support arrangements as required
Skills & Experience Required
* Strong, hands-on experience with:
* Aria Automation (vRA) / Aria Orchestrator
* VMware NSX
* Aria Operations
* Site Recovery Manager
* VMware vSphere & Cloud Foundation
* Proven scripting and automation experience using:
* PowerShell / PowerCLI
* YAML
* JavaScript
* Demonstrated ability to operate and improve
enterprise-scale automation platforms
* Strong documentation capability across technical and operational artefacts
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with senior technical stakeholders
* Experience mentoring or coaching other engineers
Desirable:
* Experience with
Veeam Backup & Replication
