OverviewAlumni Global are pleased to partner with Darling Downs Health (DDH) to appoint a skilled and strategic leader to the role of Workforce Planning Lead.
This is a high-impact opportunity to influence workforce policy, capability planning, and reform at a system-wide level, aligning workforce needs with the evolving demands of health service delivery across southern Queensland.
Darling Downs Health spans more than 90,000 square kilometres and serves approximately 300,000 people through a network of 30 facilities, including regional hospitals, rural multipurpose services, aged care centres, general practices, and specialist mental health services.
As part of the Queensland Government's Hospital Rescue Plan, DDH is also leading the development of the New Toowoomba Hospital, a once-in-a-generation infrastructure and workforce transformation.
This role offers the opportunity to lead workforce planning for a rapidly evolving health landscape, ensuring DDH is equipped with the people, systems, and foresight needed to deliver high-quality, community-centred care well into the future.

About the RoleReporting to the Executive Director, People and Culture, the Workforce Planning Lead will provide high-level leadership in the design and implementation of contemporary workforce planning frameworks.
You will act as a senior adviser to the executive team on future workforce trends, organisational development, and data-led strategic modelling.
This role will lead the development of critical plans and resources, manage engagement with internal and external partners, and provide capability support to managers across the service.
It is central to ensuring that workforce supply aligns with service demand, particularly in light of regional growth, reform priorities, and system redesign initiatives such as the New Toowoomba Hospital.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development and continuous improvement of workforce planning strategies and tools.
Provide strategic, time-sensitive advice to executives and senior managers on complex workforce matters.
Oversee the creation of resources that support line manager capability and confidence in workforce planning.
Build strong relationships across DDH and external partners to align planning with strategic and operational goals.
Apply sophisticated data analysis to visualise workforce trends and model future scenarios.
Ensure governance systems meet compliance and policy obligations.
Represent DDH on relevant workforce planning committees and forums.
About YouYou are a strategic and forward-thinking workforce leader with a proven ability to navigate complexity and shape workforce systems in large organisations.
With strong analytical skills and the ability to apply data to strategic decisions, you understand how to anticipate change and design workforce responses that are innovative and effective.
You are collaborative, engaging, and capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
You communicate clearly and respectfully, and your leadership approach builds capability and culture within teams.
Your experience in health or public sector environments is an asset, along with a strong knowledge of workforce frameworks, HR governance, and operational delivery.
Highly regardedQualifications in Human Resource Management or a related field
Membership of a professional HR body
Significant experience in workforce planning and workforce analytics
