Description DP World Brisbane is seeking to recruit a Specialist in Training who will lead delivery of in house training, skill-based training, verification of competence in our key skills areas, in addition to provide training and licensing of employees as is required for certain stevedore roles. The Specialist - Training will coordinate deliver of the training directly as detailed by our Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and through our team of qualified vocational trainers onsite. This training and licensing will also be supplemented, from time to time, with services from other RTOs. The Specialist - Training will ensure that our stevedore workforce remains skilled and competent and that new talent is being developed to meet our future needs. Our training is supported by training records which need to remain accurate to ensure that compliance and licensing is constantly monitored. Key projects will include migration of training records into new corporate learning management system plus identification and delivery of online/tablet based assessment/ training record tools to replace paper records in consultation with the RTOs and Corporate Training teams. Key Accountabilities Lead skills development and training initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, engage with operations to meet operational demands, and oversee VOC projects while managing training records and certification compliance. Ensure effective risk management, consultation, and compliance in training and VOC processes, while driving continuous improvement in skill development and safety outcomes through practical support and coordination. Oversee and deliver training programs to ensure competency and safety, manage relationships with RTOs, conduct training gap analysis, and monitor training budgets and objectives, while supporting regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. Provide practical compliance advice, develop and deliver local training and VOC initiatives to meet statutory and company standards, and ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for training compliance. Qualifications, Skills and Experience Relevant Qualifications – Cert IV in Training & Assessment (40122) required; qualifications in Crane Operations, Lashing, Cargo Care, or Clerical skills preferred. Industry Experience – Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within an industrial environment, including training delivery, VOC, and record management. Training Development – Proven experience in designing, developing, and modifying training courses tailored to operational needs. LMS Proficiency – Extensive experience using Student/Learning Management Systems for tracking, reporting, and training administration. Training & Assessment – Strong background as a workplace trainer and assessor, with up-to-date understanding of WHS and licensing regulations. Leadership & Communication – Ability to lead, motivate, and engage stakeholders at all levels, with strong written and verbal communication skills. Technical & Operational Knowledge – Solid understanding of stevedoring operations, safety standards, and compliance within high-risk environments. Organisational & Analytical Skills – Strong problem-solving, prioritisation, attention to detail, and time management capabilities, with a results-driven mindset. This role requires Maritime Security Clearance and candidates must be able to obtain or hold an MSIC Card.
