What you'll be doing
As the Clinical Nurse Consultant – Clinical Practice, you will provide expert clinical leadership and consultancy to support the delivery of safe, high‐quality nursing care across Auburn Hospital. The role plays a central part in strengthening clinical governance, improving patient safety and ensuring compliance with key accreditation standards.
* Provide expert clinical advice and leadership to nursing and multidisciplinary teams.
* Lead initiatives supporting NSQHS Standard 8, Between the Flags, CERS and REACH.
* Develop and implement policies, procedures and evidence‐based clinical pathways.
* Deliver education and training programs to enhance staff capability in acute deterioration management.
* Analyse clinical data, lead quality improvement initiatives and support accreditation readiness.

Essential Criteria
* Current and valid registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Selection Criteria
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, with a minimum of five (5) years of postgraduate clinical experience in acute care nursing.
* Demonstrated leadership in clinical governance, policy development, and accreditation processes, including expertise in NSQHS Standard 8 (Recognising and Responding to Acute Deterioration), CERS management, and incident review.
* Proven ability to lead education and training programs, identifying clinical learning needs and delivering competency‐based education for nursing and allied health staff.
* Extensive experience in quality improvement and research, with the ability to develop, implement, and evaluate evidence‐based practice initiatives that enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.
* Highly developed analytical, problem‐solving, and data management skills, including the ability to interpret key performance indicators, conduct audits, and provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
* Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to influence multidisciplinary teams, executive stakeholders, and external organisations to drive clinical excellence.
* Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a complex health environment, managing competing priorities while maintaining high standards of patient care, workforce development, and service planning.
* Advanced information technology skills, including experience with electronic medical records (eMR), incident reporting systems, and data analytics tools to support clinical governance and decision‐making.
