The Role of Commercial Underwriting Counsel
We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Underwriting Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service while making sound underwriting decisions that assess risk to the Company.
Key Responsibilities
* Handle high-volume underwriting inquiries from company title examiners and Florida title agents
* Present training seminars/webinars to enhance the skills of agents
In addition to these responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to interact with agents and contribute to the growth and development of our organization.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
* A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
* A minimum of 10 years' experience as a commercial underwriting attorney or equivalent experience
* Experience in handling large commercial transactions, including underwriting various facets of creation of condominium developments and assessing construction lien risk
* Prior experience in a national business unit or national commercial services office is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
* Licensed to practice law in the State of Florida or Authorized House Counsel with the Florida Bar
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to assess risk and address problems with a solution-focused attitude and an eye toward practicality
* Exceptional customer service attitude and people skills in working with title agents
* Willingness to work with other Underwriting Counsel in a team environment
* Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment
* Strong and accurate attention to detail
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
