Job Description:
The Senior Resident Medical Officer - Acute Care Child & Maternal Health role is a 12-month rotational position within the Coastal Network program. The rotations include paediatrics, ICU, obstetrics, and ED.
This Child and Maternal Health SRMO program would suit trainees considering a career in rural general practice as a Rural Generalist, or in the specialties of Paediatrics, and Obstetrics/Gynaecology.
As a Senior Resident Medical Officer, you will be given responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with your experience. This will be accompanied by appropriate supervision, training, and support to enable development of relevant skills during the training year.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic acute care environment
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams
* Contribute to the planning, delivery, and coordination of patient care
* Participate in clinical education and training programs
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia
* At least two postgraduate years training including a minimum 12-months experience in an Australian Public Hospital or equivalent (not as an Observer)
* Evidence of satisfactory completion of at least 2 JMO terms within an acute care setting, or demonstrated equivalent experience, within the last 12 months
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery, and coordination of patient care
* Sufficient clinical experience to undertake the key accountabilities for this role
* Excellent clinical knowledge, skills, and teamwork, with demonstrated ability to work both independently within a supervised complex clinical environment and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Ability to recognise the acutely unwell patient and to initiate immediate management and institute Advanced Life Support, with a current ALS2 or equivalent qualification
* Advanced organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment
