About the Role
This Canberra-based, office-based leadership role carries national responsibility. As National Head of Accounts, you will oversee the Accounts function across Australia, driving excellence in financial operations, compliance, reporting and governance standards nationwide.Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and overseeing all financial operations, including accounting, reporting, BAS, and taxation obligations
* Developing and implementing robust financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to protect assets and enhance systems
* Providing strong leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the Accounts team, fostering capability and engagement
* Partnering with senior leaders and operational teams to set financial KPIs, monitor performance, and support informed decision-making
* Managing external relationships with auditors, banks, and key service providers
* Ensuring consistent, high-quality financial service delivery across all states
Candidates must hold permanent residency in Australia.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
* A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (Australian qualification)
* CA, CPA, or NIA accreditation
* Strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and taxation legislation (GST, FBT, income tax, capital gains)
* 5+ years' experience in a senior accounting or financial controller-level role within Australia
* Demonstrated success leading teams and managing complex financial operations
* High-level stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Advanced Microsoft Excel capability
* Property or construction sector experience (desirable)
* Exposure to or interest in leveraging AI in financial processes (highly regarded)
