Overview
Finance Manager role at Moir Group. This is a hands-on position to take ownership of family office finances across diverse business interests, including a property portfolio, investments, and philanthropic activities in a confidential, high-trust environment.
Base pay range
A$130,000.00/yr - A$140,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
* Bookkeeping & Administration (40%): Manage payroll, debtors, creditors, banking, ATO lodgements, and ASIC lodgements for the family office
* Monthly Reporting (30%): Consolidate multi-entity information and provide commercial insights across a diverse portfolio
* Commercial Advisory (30%): Handle insurances, leasing, and ad hoc project work
* Take full ownership of coordinating finances across the corporate group, property portfolio, and investments
* Liaise with finance teams from the operating companies and external professional advisors
* Ensure robust financial controls and risk management
* Lead the transition from outsourced bookkeeping to a more hands-on approach
* Drive process improvements and bring fresh ideas to enhance the financial operations
* Property portfolio management responsibilities with potential for expanded scope
Profile
* Excellent technology skills, particularly Xero and Microsoft Office - must be highly systematic and process-driven
* True hands-on approach - willing to personally manage detailed bookkeeping alongside commercial work (not delegate)
* Excellent communication skills to explain financial concepts to family members and provide clear commercial advice
* Initiative and curiosity - someone who brings ideas and drives continuous improvement
* Reliable and trustworthy with strong backbone - essential for the family office environment
* Detail-oriented with exceptional accuracy when consolidating information from multiple entities
* Flexible and adaptable across diverse business interests
* Professional integrity and experience managing sensitive family business matters
* Proven ability to take ownership and see projects through to completion
Highly Regarded
* Property portfolio management experience (with potential for 4-5 days at a higher salary)
* Company secretarial/corporate governance experience
* Big Four accounting background with subsequent corporate experience. Alternatively a strong business services background in a CA firm.
* Experience as a Finance Manager/Controller in a smaller company or family office
* Flexible part-time arrangement: 3-4 days per week with scheduling flexibility (can be split across the full week)
* Sydney-based with ideally two days per week in the office
