About the role
Driven by high customer expectations, consistency and dependability are at the core of the Joyce business. Based in Edinburgh North, this role spans both hands-on operational and strategic leadership functions across six locations, we operate a lean just-in-time operation within a complex manufacturing environment. Leading a small, dedicated team of experts and collaborating with the broader national management team, this role is accountable for end-to-end planning, warehousing, and logistics functions supporting our manufacturing activities, six internal business units, international agents, and export customers.
This role is accountable for maintaining the company's 99.8% DIFOT performance.
As part of the leadership team, you will drive success through your team and via effective collaboration and communication with the other department heads who impact your goals and our customer outcomes.
About the person:
This is an autonomous role in which you are responsible for the ongoing delivery of outcomes for both internal and external customers—but also developing and implementing the department's strategic direction, optimising processes, infrastructure, and driving continuous development of our IT and AI systems.

What you'll be doing
* WHS and Compliance: Foster, review, maintain internal and external WHS policies, processes and documentation to ensure compliance and continuous improvement in workplace safety.
* Lead and Develop the Team: Lead, motivate, train, and empower a high-performing national logistics and supply chain team, including overseeing job rotation and staff development across logistics, planning and warehousing functions.
* Logistics and Distribution Management: Plan, coordinate and monitor all national transportation, warehousing, inbound/outbound deliveries and distribution networks, ensuring timely and efficient service while optimising cost-effectiveness.
* Carrier and Supplier Management: Select and manage carriers and third-party logistics providers, including negotiating contracts, rates and assessing ideal shipping methods for imports and exports. Heavy equipment handling i.e. machinery, forklift, etc.
* Inventory and Stock Control: Proactively manage and maintain accurate inventory records and national stock level systems, coordinating with various Joyce teams to meet to anticipate issues, meet customer demand and service expectations.
* Supply Chain Strategy and Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement effective logistics and supply chain strategies, analyse performance metrics and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise efficiency, integration and customer satisfaction.
What we're looking for
* Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business or a related field
* Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in supply chain and logistics management, preferably within the manufacturing industry
* Proven track record of developing and implementing successful logistics and supply chain strategies
* Excellent project management, problem-solving and decision-making skills
* Strong analytical and data-driven approach to supply chain optimisation
* Highly effective communication and stakeholder management abilities
* Ability to lead and motivate a team of logistics professionals
* Thorough understanding of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements
