School Officer - Education Support
About the Role
This part-time, permanent position involves providing support to students with complex communication needs in a classroom environment. The School Officer works under the direction of a teacher to enable students to participate in learning and school activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing practical assistance to students, including scribing, reading, and using classroom technology. They will also assist students with their physical needs, such as mobility and personal care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide support to individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to participate in learning and school activities
* Assist students with specific learning needs, including scribing and reading
* Support student engagement by reinforcing appropriate behaviour
* Perform administrative tasks, including record maintenance and producing resources
* Maintain a clean and tidy classroom environment
* Provide support to students with physical needs
Requirements
The successful candidate will require:
* A current Working with Children Suitability Card
* A current Driver's Licence
* Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
* Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
* No formal qualification is required, however, a Cert III in School Based Education Support or equivalent is preferred
