Occupational Therapist Role

Our goal is to enhance or maintain individuals' independence in all aspects of living. Occupational therapists may assist people limited by physical or psychological illness, neurological dysfunction, developmental delay, or the aging process.

Key Responsibilities:
\
\
* Evaluate and consult with clients to assess their functional capacity, limitations, and potential.
\
* Provide occupational therapy input aimed at improving clients' functional independence and quality of life.
\
* Recommend, trial, and assist clients in obtaining necessary assistive technology (aids and equipment).
\
* Facilitate minor and major home modifications through referral and coordination with other agencies.
\
* Deliver education on energy conservation, joint protection, falls prevention, work simplification, stress management, and relaxation.
\
* Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams to maximize client outcomes by attending case conferences as required.
\
* Contribute to care plans addressing personal Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including manual handling and workplace health and safety concerns.
\
* Evaluate and review peer recommendations and adjust accordingly.
\
* Plan, coordinate, implement, and review group programs suited to clients' needs within the local community.
\
* In consultation with the Manager, design, coordinate, and evaluate projects responding to identified needs.
\
* Ensure all services reflect best practice, including evidence-based practice.
\
* Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with industry developments and advancements.
\
Requirements:
\
\
* Demonstrated clinical knowledge and ability to competently assess functional ability in a community setting.
\
* Able to develop, implement, and review collaborative OT services.
\
* Capacity to work autonomously, plan, and prioritize work effectively.
\
* Well-developed oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
\
* Demonstrated understanding of quality management principles in a clinical setting.
\
* Current National Police Certificate, Current Drivers Licence with own reliable vehicle, Degree in Occupational Therapy, Current registration with AHPRA, First Aid and CPR Certification, Membership or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Occupational Therapists, Queensland.
