Karratha Senior High School (SHS) seeks Big Picture Education Teachers to join as permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2026.
Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Note: This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers.

The remaining AITSL domain will be assessed as part of the further assessment stage for shortlisted applicants only.

The Role
Karratha SHS is seeking passionate and innovative teachers to lead students as an advisory teacher within our Big Picture Learning Academy.
The program serves students in Years 9–12 and supports identification and pursuit of interests through Advisory groups, individualised learning projects and internships.
Students complete Year 11 and 12 through the International Big Picture Learning Credential.
Responsibilities include engaging students in learning through the Big Picture Learning design, fostering independence, engagement and lifelong learning, and collaborating with families, industry mentors and the school community to provide varied and differentiated learning approaches.
You will be responsible for student learning across the curriculum including literacy and numeracy, aligned to individual goals.
The role emphasizes personalised learning within a community of learners and outcomes measured against real-world standards.
Ideal applicants will have strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills to promote the school’s values and priorities, build positive relationships with students and the wider community, and contribute to a culture of excellence.

Mobility Appointments
Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south west teachers offer eligible permanent teachers a 3-year mobility appointment with a right of return to their substantive position.
At the end of the mobility term, teachers may return to their substantive role or transfer permanently to this school.

Note: South West teachers are not eligible to move to another South West school under this trial.
