About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Hunter Class Line of Business based at SA - Tonsley.
We offer flexible work arrangements, including working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
The successful candidate will report to the Principle Software Manager and be responsible for delegated software engineering activities as directed, in accordance with relevant project procedures and work instructions to achieve project technical, schedule and cost goals throughout the portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
* Undertaking all assigned Software Engineering activities, including related artifacts and project documentation, in accordance with identified project directives and BAE standards, and commensurate with the lifecycle stage of the project.
* Providing status update information to relevant stakeholders, i.e., supervisors and/or project manager.
* Leveraging experience to assist in the development of project infrastructure, both hardware and software centric, such as tools deployment, metrics collection, code review, and continually codebase development in both traditional agile and waterfall methods.
* Performing software engineering tasks in accordance with the relevant software engineering plans.
About You
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
* A working-level understanding of the Software Development lifecycle and common methodologies.
* Experience in best practice UI/UX and human-centric software.
* Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills in dynamically changing environments.
* The ability to assess software defects, debug, and think laterally to find root causes and engineer appropriate solutions.
* Awareness of Configuration and Change Management principles.
* Sound communication skills, including the ability to speak to various levels of stakeholders and project sponsors.
* The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* A defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
* Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
