Position Information
The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world‐class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non‐government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
About the Role
This role is vital to the maintenance and upkeep of departmental schools. To be successful you will need good planning, prioritising and communication skills to work effectively with others.
Responsibilities
* Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of the school and grounds.
* Assist with the set‐up and removal of furniture and equipment for school activities.
* Identify and report maintenance and safety issues.
* Receive, store and distribute supplies and monitor equipment, reporting faults as required.
About the School
Waitara Public is a vibrant school nestled within the Hornsby School Education Area. It hosts approximately 974 students from Kindergarten to Year 6, including two Opportunity Classes for high‐ability learners.
Diversity thrives within the school's community, with around 96% of students coming from non‐English language backgrounds, representing over 52 distinct cultures, notably Chinese, Indian, Korean and Sri Lankan groups.
The dedicated team at Waitara Public School comprises roughly 75 school‐based personnel, including executive staff, classroom and specialist teachers, EAL/D educators, an ICT coordinator, a teacher librarian, school psychologists, school learning support officers, administrative staff and a general assistant.
