Primary objective
The Administration Support Officer is responsible for providing professional, efficient, consistent, and reliable level of
administrative support and assistance to the Rehabilitation and Reintegration team at the Darwin and Alice Springs Correctional
Centre either by face to face or written correspondence whilst ensuring all prisoner information is managed and maintained in
accordance with the departments policies and legislative requirements.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high quality administrative support this will include booking travel, scheduling of meetings and coordinating of special
events, preparation of program resources, reference materials and general correspondence as required to the Offender Services
and Programs unit.
1. Maintain the Offender Services and Programs resources and psychometric testing library, while retaining accurate and detailed
record keeping.
1. Provide assistance in the management of assessment and program waitlists within the Integrated Offender Management
System (IOMS).
1. Liaise with the relevant staff for required Program bookings and make necessary arrangements.
2. Request and collate prisoner information as required in order to prepare and maintain confidential clinical files as requested by
Offender Services and Program staff and collect and collate statistics on a monthly basis, or as required.
6. Any other duties as directed by the senior management team.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience in customer service with a high level of effective communication skills, both verbal and written, within a multicultural
environment, including Aboriginal Australians.
2. Relevant administrative experience including knowledge and understanding of administrative practices and procedures and a
working knowledge of computer software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, records management,
and electronic media applications.
1. Demonstrated experience in an administrative support role or similar with the ability to follow instructions, work independently,
problem solve, and use initiative.
1. Well-developed time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks to ensure they are completed within non-negotiable
deadlines and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
1. Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders, while maintaining confidentiality and using diplomacy, discretion, and
empathy
Desirable
1. Knowledge and understanding of the requirements and limitations associated with working within a complex secure
environment or similar.
