In this role you will:
1. Design and develop the electrical systems including power distribution, control systems, auxiliary systems and implement DC power systems for battery electric vehicles.
2. Create detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using MicroStation and AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design standards.
3. Create electrical schematics, layouts, and selecting components such as batteries, inverters and charge controllers.
4. Provide drafting support for creating prototypes of power electronic systems, as needed.
5. Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into the overall design.
6. Assist in cost estimation for electrical components and systems, optimizing designs for cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality.
7. Participate in testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems identifying and resolving issues during prototype and production phases.
8. Maintain comprehensive documentation of electrical designs, changes and revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
9. Utilise MicroStation and AutoCAD software proficiently for drafting, modeling and creating 2D and 3D drawings.
10. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers to ensure project success.
11. Ensure that all electrical designs adhere to quality standards and are aligned with project objectives.
About you:
12. Electrical, Electronics Engineering diploma or degree.
13. Minimum 5 years’ experience in design & drafting.
14. Proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD for electrical design.
15. Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices.
16. Sound knowledge of electrical schematic drawings, Cable Lists, Block Diagrams, Terminal Drawings, Reports & BOMs.
17. Experience with DC power component selection, including batteries, inverters, charge controllers, and power distribution systems.
18. Familiarity with different types of inverters and controllers and their compatibility with DC power systems.
19. Proven experience in designing power electronic circuits and systems, including power converters, inverters, rectifiers, and DC-DC converters.
20. Understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations for power electronics design, and efficiency standards.
