Role Description
This is a full‐time, on‐site role for an Infrastructure Engineer based in Sydney, NSW. This is a hands‐on infrastructure role working across Linux systems, networking, and core platform services in production environments.
You'll be responsible not only for maintaining systems, but for improving them — identifying weaknesses, enhancing reliability, and contributing to better design, automation, and operational practices.
You'll have genuine ownership of the environments you support and the autonomy to make meaningful technical decisions.
What You Will be Doing
* Managing and supporting Linux‐based systems in production environments
* Working across networking infrastructure including routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs
* Troubleshooting issues across system and network layers
* Improving system reliability, performance, and availability
* Contributing to automation and operational efficiency
* Supporting high‐availability environments where uptime is critical
What We're Looking For
* Solid hands‐on experience in IT infrastructure (mid‐level)
* Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills
* Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs)
* Proven ability to troubleshoot across systems and network layers
* Exposure to scripting or automation
* Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes
* Experience supporting production or high‐availability environments
Nice to Have
* Automation tools (e.g. Ansible)
* Virtualisation platforms (VMware, Proxmox, Hyper‐V)
* Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar)
* Monitoring/observability (Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana)
* Backup and disaster recovery solutions
* Containers (Docker or similar)
Certifications (Optional)
* RHCSA / RHCE, LPIC, CCNA, or relevant cloud/virtualisation certifications
Technology Environment
You'll work across a modern and evolving stack, including:
* Linux‐based systems and infrastructure
* Networking and security platforms (e.g. Sophos firewalls and security suite)
* Switching infrastructure (e.g. Fibrestore)
* Backup and recovery solutions (e.g. Veeam)
* Endpoint and security tooling (e.g. ThreatLocker, MDR, email protection)
Experience with similar technologies is beneficial but not required — capability and mindset matter more.
Who You Are
* A well‐rounded infrastructure engineer comfortable across Linux and networking
* Practical, adaptable, and solutions‐focused
* Someone who values ownership and accountability
* Focused on reliability, performance, and outcomes
* Interested in improving systems — not just maintaining them
What You'll Get
* Competitive salary of $105K – $125K + Super
* A hands‐on role with real ownership and technical influence
* Flexible working arrangements and supportive work‐life balance
* Standard leave entitlements plus a culture that respects time off
* Ongoing training and development opportunities
* Support for certifications and professional growth
* Exposure to a broad range of technologies and environments
* A close‐knit technical team of ~12 skilled engineers
* Clear opportunities for career progression as the company grows
* A culture that values initiative, capability, and getting things done
