Nunkuwarrin Yunti is the largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in metropolitan Adelaide. We provide a culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to access services, guided by our values of Caring, Community, Communication and Consistency.

We are seeking an experienced Child Health Nurse to provide expert clinical leadership and support in improving child health outcomes. This role focuses on delivering high‐quality, safe, and culturally appropriate care for children and families within the community, strengthening clinical governance, safety, and continuous improvement across our child health services.

Job Description

About the Role

You will:

* Implement and coordinate service delivery options to expand the reach of free child health and development checks for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children using the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ)/ASQ‐TRAK.
* Lead development and delivery of information and education activities for parents/caregivers and health service staff to promote the importance of child developmental screening and processes.
* Manage and oversee referral and triage processes to support children's access to developmental screening and health assessments as indicated.
* Provide consultation to the Program team to assist in determining the most appropriate service pathways based on results of child development screening and health assessments.
* Provide safe clinically appropriate child and family nursing care in partnership with parents/caregivers, their families and other health professionals.
* Oversee engagement with secondary and tertiary service providers to meet the needs of children and their parents/caregivers.
* Provide day‐to‐day supervision of care within the team and act to resolve local and/or immediate access to or availability of referral services.
* Participate in service training, lead continuous quality improvement and change management processes and participate in evaluation activities.

About You

You bring:

* Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Demonstrated experience working with infants, children, and families.
* Strong understanding of Aboriginal health issues and cultural safety.
* Skilled in developmental screening tools (ASQ, ASQ‐TRAK).
* Proficient in electronic health systems (e.g., Communicare).
* Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
* Minimum of three years of demonstrated vocational experience in a Primary Health Care setting consistent with the position's role and responsibilities.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues which may impact on maternal child and family wellbeing.
* Sound knowledge of best practice guidelines and protocols and well developed clinical skills and specialist knowledge gained through experience, training or education.
* Proven well‐developed written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise and network effectively with a range of health professionals and administrative staff.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, and ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and show leadership as a member of a multi‐disciplinary team.
* Demonstrated ability to function within a complex busy workplace and respond to difficult and/or stressful situations in a calm, sensitive and professional manner.
* Demonstrated knowledge, skill and experience in continuous quality improvement processes.

Desired Skills and Experience

* Post‐graduate qualifications in Child and Family Health.
* Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
* Experience in the child disability sector including NDIS.
* Experience supporting families with complex needs.
* Experience providing supervision, training and support of other staff including establishing and monitoring work outcomes.
