About St Vincent de Paul Society

For more than 170 years we have been providing practical and compassionate support to people across Victoria whose daily struggles can include putting food on the table, paying essential utilities and ensuring their children remain at school to obtain an education.

Our organisation provides many services and programs, including soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assist some of Victoria's most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly.

Little bit about the role

The Fleet Manager is accountable for the strategic and operational oversight of the organisation's vehicle fleet. The role ensures all fleet assets are safe, compliant, reliable, cost-effective and aligned with the evolving operational needs of the organisation.

Key responsibilities include full end-to-end fleet lifecycle management, vendor management & procurement, leasing, registration, maintenance scheduling, servicing, insurance and disposal. The Fleet Manager also implements systems and processes that enhance efficiency, track utilisation and performance, and support environmental sustainability objectives.

In addition, the role oversees driver management practices, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements such as Chain of Responsibility and Work Health and Safety (WHS) and leads investigations into vehicle incidents or near misses. The Fleet Manager also contributes to broader organisational logistics planning, ensuring vehicle availability supports frontline service delivery and works closely with internal stakeholders, service providers and suppliers to deliver high-quality, value-driven fleet operations.

* Demonstrated experience in managing a corporate or government fleet with diverse vehicle types and user groups.
* Strong understanding of fleet compliance, safety and asset management practices.
* Extensive experience across fleet lifecycle management, including procurement, maintenance and disposal.

* Proven ability to manage budgets, conduct forecasting and control costs.
* Demonstrated capability to analyse data, monitor fleet utilisation and improve overall performance.
* Skilled in contract and vendor management, including leasing companies, maintenance providers and fuel suppliers.
* Experience in incident and risk management, including leading investigations and preparing reports.
* Excellent organisational, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* Proficiency with fleet management systems (desirable) and Microsoft Office applications.
