An outstanding opportunity exists for a highly organised, discreet and politically astute professional to serve as Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the Leader of the Opposition and Chief of Staff.
This is a pivotal role at the heart of the Opposition's parliamentary and political operations. The successful applicant will ensure the smooth functioning of the Leader's Office, manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, and provide high-level executive support to both the Leader and Chief of Staff.
This role requires sound judgement, resilience under pressure, absolute discretion, and the ability to anticipate needs before they arise.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Support
* Manage complex diaries, scheduling, and forward planning for the Leader and Chief of Staff
* Coordinate meetings, briefings, travel arrangements, and parliamentary commitments
* Prepare and manage correspondence, including drafting letters and responses
* Ensure timely follow-up of action items and stakeholder engagements
Office Management
* Oversee day-to-day operations of the Leader's Office
* Manage internal systems, records, and administrative processes
* Coordinate workflow across advisers and support staff
* Liaise with Assembly administration and ministerial offices
Stakeholder Engagement
* Serve as a key point of contact for constituents, stakeholders, media, and Assembly staff
* Ensure professional and timely responses to inquiries
* Support events, visits, and stakeholder meetings
Confidentiality & Governance
* Handle sensitive political, parliamentary, and personnel matters with strict confidentiality
* Maintain compliance with Assembly procedures and governance requirements
Selection Criteria
* Proven experience in executive support at senior levels (government, political, corporate, or equivalent)
* Exceptional organisational and time-management skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-pressure environment
* Political awareness and sound judgement
* High level of discretion and professionalism
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital scheduling systems
* Experience in a parliamentary or political environment will be highly regarded but is not essential.
