Child Protection Social Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Protection Social Worker to join our team in Knowsley. As a key member of our Child Protection and Child in Need Team, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable children and their families.


Job Description:

In this challenging yet rewarding role, you will work closely with children, young people, and their families to assess their needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services. Your primary focus will be on managing cases from initial referral through to the first court hearing and potential removal via an Interim Care Order (ICO). You will also carry out statutory duties, including assessments, interventions, and safeguarding actions, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks and promoting positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families.


Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct thorough assessments of children's needs and develop effective care plans
* Manage cases from initial referral through to the first court hearing and potential removal via an Interim Care Order (ICO)
* Carry out statutory duties, including assessments, interventions, and safeguarding actions
* Work collaboratively with children, young people, and their families to promote positive outcomes


Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

* A degree in social work or a related field
* Professional qualifications in social work, such as the Diploma in Social Work (DSW) or the Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW)
* Experience working with vulnerable children and families, preferably in a child protection or child in need context
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage complex caseloads
