Remuneration: $58.95 - $60.86 per hour + 12% Super + Salary Packaging

Where You'll Be Working

This role is based at Cessnock House, located on the grounds of Cessnock Hospital, and forms part of the Lower Hunter Social Work team within Hunter New England Local Health District.

You will work closely with local youth and community partners through the Cessnock Youth Interagency, ensuring coordinated, wrap-around support for young families in the region.

This is a job share position offering flexibility while remaining embedded within a connected and supportive multidisciplinary network.

About The Role

The Young Parents Social Worker provides supportive, strengths-based case management to young parents across the Cessnock LGA.

This Is Primarily a Home Visiting Service, Focused On
* Building safe, stable and nurturing home environments
* Supporting parenting capacity and family wellbeing
* Conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments
* Delivering evidence-informed interventions
* Linking families with appropriate health, education and community services

You will work autonomously while maintaining strong professional collaboration with internal teams and external agencies to ensure continuity of care.

This Level 3 position requires independent clinical judgement, the ability to manage complex situations, and confidence in working within community-based settings.

* Your job share partner
* The Head of Discipline (Social Work)
* The broader Lower Hunter Social Work team

Regular supervision and professional development opportunities are provided to support ongoing growth and reflective practice.

About You

You are a confident, self-directed Social Worker who thrives in community settings. You are comfortable working independently, making sound clinical decisions, and managing competing priorities.

* Strong assessment and case management skills
* The ability to build trusting therapeutic relationships
* A trauma-informed and family-centred approach
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Sound professional judgement and ethical practice
Requirements
* Bachelor of Social Work (or equivalent) providing eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
* Current unrestricted driver's licence and willingness to travel for home visits

* An eligibility list will be created for future temporary part time vacancies.
