Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals are seeking a Permanent Full Time or Part Time Social Work Assistant (Allied Health Assistant Level 2–3) to join the Social Work team (Job share option is available). This role supports the team in providing high‑quality clinical services to patients and their families/carers, while also completing essential departmental and administrative tasks.
Campbelltown Hospital, a major metropolitan hospital, and Camden Hospital, a district hospital, operate under a common executive management structure with networked services. Together they provide intensive care, cardiology, maternity, gynaecology, paediatrics, palliative care, respiratory and stroke medicine, surgery, emergency medicine and broad aged‑care services, delivering high‑quality healthcare to residents of Wollondilly, Camden and Campbelltown.
* Support Social Work clinicians in providing supervised clinical services that optimise patient health outcomes.
* Assist patients, families and carers as part of the Social Work team’s patient‑centred approach.
* Contribute to coordinated care across a diverse range of inpatient and specialty services.
* Undertake delegated administrative and departmental tasks to support efficient service delivery.
* Work within a connected, multidisciplinary hospital network serving three local government areas.
Are You the Right Fit?
This role is well suited to someone who works collaboratively with clinicians, families and aged‑care providers, communicates effectively in challenging situations, and manages competing priorities to support timely and patient‑centred service delivery.
* Liaise closely with Social Work clinicians, families and aged‑care facilities for patients requiring transfer to Residential Aged Care.
* Apply strong active listening and interpersonal skills when supporting families/carers experiencing challenging or distressing situations.
* Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team
* Demonstrate effective time‑management and prioritisation skills to complete delegated tasks.
* Contribute to smooth service delivery by assisting with additional tasks as required by the Social Work team.
Selection Criteria

* Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or relevant qualification or Minimum 12 months full-time equivalent relevant experience with commitment to undertake the Certificate IV in AHA within 12 month period.
* Please describe how you prioritise your workload and manage competing tasks, including examples of working within your scope of practice, meeting deadlines and seeking assistance when required. In your response, outline how you use organisational, interpersonal and communication skills to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Provide an example that demonstrates your understanding of Work Health and Safety principles, along with your ability to use computer systems such as Microsoft Office for emails, documentation and data management. Include how you applied effective written and verbal communication in this situation.
* Outline how you applied effective written and verbal communication skills, including your experience working with challenging clients or managing difficult customer behaviour, and how you used professional communication and networking skills to achieve a positive outcome.
* Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
