About the Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to step into a Senior Financial Controller role within one of Australia's fastest-growing eCommerce businesses recently named in the AFR's Fast 100.
The business is profitable, founder-led, and tracking ~$30m in revenue this year with clear plans to scale toward $50m+ and beyond. Based on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, the brand has built a fiercely loyal customer base, secured major domestic and international retail partnerships (including Walmart in the US), and operates across Australia, the UK, and the United States.
This is not a back-office reporting role. It's a high-impact position at the centre of the business, driving performance, improving visibility, and influencing key commercial decisions. You'll have the autonomy to build, refine, and scale the finance function as the business grows balancing hands-on delivery with strategic input.
The founders are ambitious, transparent, and deeply invested in building a high-performance culture. The team runs Rockefeller-style rhythms daily standups, weekly huddles, and quarterly offsites with full financial visibility across the business. You'll be working alongside people who move fast, back great ideas, and genuinely care about the work.
This role suits a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or strong Senior Accountant looking to step out of a more structured or corporate environment into something agile and fast-paced. It's a genuine pathway to CFO as the business continues to scale.
About the Role
You will take full ownership of the finance function across reporting, compliance, and day-to-day operations, ensuring accuracy and integrity across all financials. Core responsibilities include:
* Leading month-end close processes and maintaining a high-quality general ledger (Xero-based environment with Fathom, A2X, and Unleashed integrations)
* Overseeing core accounting activities including AP/AR, payroll, BAS/GST, and PAYG
* Managing cashflow and working capital through high-growth phases including running a weekly 13-week cashflow forecast
* Delivering budgets, rolling forecasts, and scenario modelling to support key decisions (pricing, promo strategy, freight/COGS, inventory buys, headcount)
* Partnering closely with founders and leadership in buying, ops, and growth meetings translating decisions into financial outcomes
* Producing simple, decision-useful reporting: weekly trading updates, monthly management packs, and quarterly board packs
* Building scalable controls and processes that grow with the business without creating bureaucracy
* Managing eCommerce accounting flows: Shopify payouts, refunds/chargebacks, marketplace fees, and multi-currency operations across AU, US, and UK
What We're Looking For
* CA/CPA qualified (or near completion) with tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or similar
* Proven hands-on finance ownership for an SME or high-growth business you've run month-end, not just reviewed it
* Strong cashflow forecasting and modelling skills (Excel/Google Sheets)
* eCommerce, retail, or product-based experience strongly preferred (Shopify, inventory, COGS, refunds, marketplace fees)
* Proactive and driven, with a focus on continuous improvement, automation, and smarter ways of working
* Experience leveraging systems, data, and AI tools to drive efficiency and insight
* Commercial mindset: you care about margin, stock, and growth not just compliance
* Comfortable in a founder-led environment: high pace, high ownership, high standards
* A genuine desire to grow into a CFO role and lead finance as the business scales
