About us:
Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS) is an integrated consultation and liaison community-based service providing assessment and treatment for older adults in the community. The service aims to support GPs and other health and aged care providers by assessing and recommending treatment for people with mental health problems.
OPMHS sees patients with a first presentation of a mental illness generally over 65 years of age and over 55 for indigenous people however younger people who are affected by age-related neurodegenerative problems such as Alzheimer's disease may be included. OPMHS also specialises in diagnosis, treatment and supports the care of people with dementia.
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers an area of 142,900 square kilometres. We go as far as Tully in the south, Cow Bay in the north and Croydon in the west.
About you:
In your new role you will……
* Provide and coordinate specialised biopsychosocial psychogeriatric assessment, treatment, review, and evaluation of care activities in collaboration with the consumer, carers, Consultant Psychiatrist, General Practitioners, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
* Coordinate and guide mentoring, preceptorship, role modelling and promote cooperation and collaborative teamwork.
* Collaborate with others in the provision of policy advice on issues relating to Allied Health professional and clinical practice, education, and research.
