Job Title: Sr. Structures Analyst

The Vehicle Engineering team tackles space exploration's toughest problems through the development of our reusable launch vehicles (Starship, Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy) and spacecraft (HLS, Crew Dragon).

Responsibilities:
\

1. Develop guidance and structural analysis tools company-wide, training key stakeholders and other engineers as needed.
\
2. Perform structural analysis of primary and secondary structures, including finite element modeling and hand calculations.
\
3. Develop load paths and conduct preliminary sizing of structures using both metallic and composite materials.
\
4. Collaborate with the team to perform rapid conceptual design, analysis, and testing cycles on development hardware, including CAD modeling, FEA modeling and analysis, and testing oversight.

5. Peer review models, analysis, and tests.

Qualifications:
\

6. Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, or physics discipline.
\
7. 5+ years of professional experience in structural analysis with commercial FEA or multi-physics simulation package.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
\
\
8. Master's degree or PhD in an engineering, math, or physics discipline.
\
9. Experience performing structural analysis on primary structures.
\
10. Proficiency with ABAQUS, ANSYS, or Nastran FEA solvers.
\
11. Advanced proficiency with pre/post-processors, including scripting.
\
12. Familiarity with material, geometric, and contact nonlinear analyses.
\
13. Experience doing stress analysis of welded structures, including heat distortion and residual stresses.
\
14. Excellent understanding of fatigue and fracture mechanics principles and familiarity with fatigue and crack growth analysis codes.
\
15. Scripting experience using Python, VBA, or Matlab.
\
16. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
\
17. Ability and willingness to be self-directed and take on new challenges.
