The Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) Simulator Technician works as a member of a team of technicians under the direction of a senior technician to operate and maintain the Synthetic Training Environment (STE) devices, support the Constructive Training Environment (CTE), maintain the ICT Network, and support the Avionics equipment fitted to the helicopter platform.

Key Responsibilities
* Operate and maintain HATS STE, CTE, ICT and Avionics elements as directed by the HATS Senior Simulator Technicians or HATS Lead Maintenance Technician.
* Ensure STE, CTE, ICT and Avionics elements are maintained in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines.
* Carry out corrective maintenance and actions as required.
* Maintain tools and test equipment, and ensure equipment is calibrated.
* Maintain records and documentation.
* Ensure work is completed in accordance with relevant standards and processes.
* Act as a Self Certifying Maintainer (SCM) when authorised.
* Utilise spares and carry out repairs to ensure that the STE devices meet contracted availability requirements.
* Maintain a sound working relationship with the customer and other relevant stakeholders.
* Proactively identify issues and solutions, keeping the HATS Lead Maintenance Technician informed of progress.
* Effectively communicate with all levels of staff via staff meetings, written communications and one-on-one communication.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Qualifications in Avionics, Electronics, Computer IT or similar fields.
* Experience in a technical workshop or maintenance environment.
* Customer interface.
* Sound interpersonal skills – good team player.
* Demonstrated self-starting ability.
* Experience with simulation projects preferably in a Defence context is desirable.
Prerequisites
Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain Baseline security clearance. Pre‐employment police and role‐dependent medical checks and security clearance may be required. The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) may apply, and nationality may affect suitability for this role.
