Offer description

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2026

Southern River College (SRC) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, collaborative and creative Music Teacher to build on the current success of our established Inspire Music program.

SRC is committed to appointing staff who are the right fit for our school and community. With a school population of approximately 1200 and a diverse demographic with a strong multicultural influence, we have a strong commitment to delivering high quality teaching and learning experiences.

SRC seeks to create opportunities for all students progressing through their educational journey. With our Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) pathway, general education and vocational programs we offer the scope for success for every child. Our Inspire programs in Lower School enables students to follow their passion with our Inspire Academic, Netball, Music, Soccer and Volleyball programs. Our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) enrichment program is achieving noteworthy success with competitions both locally and interstate offering challenging, engaging and innovative technologies.

Our RIVER Way is a pedagogical framework that ensures staff utilise Visible Learning and embed the Department of Educations Teaching for Impact resource. Our culturally responsive approach enables a safe, inclusive and supported learning environment that creates a sense of belonging. The Role

The successful applicant will be working in a highly motivated and collaborative Arts department. SRC offers our specialised Inspire program for Years 7 to 10 and a General Music course in Years 11 and 12. It would be highly regarded to hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or ideally be willing to obtain this qualification.

With strong links with the feeder Primary Schools, there is the potential to continue having shared performances and other collaborative opportunities. These Primary Schools have strong music programs with established Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) programs in their schools and enjoy being involved in community events and performances.

The successful applicant should be able to work with the network to make music prominent with their area of expertise. The opportunity to have students experience in and enjoy performing at assemblies, events and at community functions/events is the key.

The position is one of growth and building a program of excellence to perform and entertain. Initially, the successful applicant may need to be flexible to teach in another Learning Area whilst also teaching our Inspire Music classes.
