About headspace headspace are a busy and innovative youth mental health service providing a variety of mental health, medical, sexual and other health related services as well as vocational, functional groups and social services to young people aged 12 to 25 years and their families. About the Opportunity The Mental Health Practitioner at headspace Katherine will deliver early intervention clinical assessments and therapeutic support to young people (12–25) with mild to moderate mental health concerns and their families. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the role ensures services are youth-friendly, culturally appropriate, and family inclusive. Key responsibilities include providing evidence-based interventions, facilitating referrals to internal and external services, maintaining accurate clinical records, and supporting intake, group programs, and community engagement activities. To be successful in this role you will have: An approved tertiary qualification and minimum 1 years' experience in a health-related discipline (Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Psychologist, Counsellor or Aboriginal Health Practitioner) and registration with the relevant regulatory body. If you do not currently have this qualification you must be willing to undertake relevant studies. Demonstrated experience in the provision of individual client work including screening, assessment, targeted goal, and outcome focused interventions to young people and their families. Experience working with young people within a multi-disciplinary mental health or youth service setting and a demonstrated understanding of mental health issues impacting young people, best practice treatment options, support services and co-morbidities. Ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, their families, communities, staff, and Aboriginal controlled organisations.
