Overview

Leading Hand Road Maintenance (Ref: 1282)

Join our team as a Leading Hand Road Maintenance, where you'll play a key role in delivering road maintenance services across the City of Greater Geraldton. Working within established programs and budgets, you'll help ensure our roads are maintained to the highest standards and compliant with all relevant regulations, policies, and Australian standards.

In this hands-on role, you'll provide day-to-day guidance, support, and leadership to a small team, helping to create a positive, productive work environment. Previous experience in a leading hand role is highly regarded. However, if you bring the right attitude and willingness to learn, we are committed to providing training in road maintenance to help you succeed.

This position also offers a 9-day fortnight, giving you every second Friday as a non-working day supporting great work-life balance.

Key Accountabilities

* Lead the team in hazard identification and controls through the development of specific JHA and ensuring team accountability. Promote safe work practices and environment through leading by example.
* Maintain the City's sealed road network assets through undertaking road maintenance activities including asphalting, chip sealing and edge patching.
* Provide initiative and guidance to direct reports in daily activities, including coordinating all materials and equipment for use by the team.
* Ensure that all work undertaken by team is to a high standard and within agreed timeframes.

Position Requirements

The ideal applicant will bring experience in road maintenance and the ability to confidently lead a small team. An MR class driver's licence is preferred, and strong communication skills along with the ability to use an iPad for daily tasks are highly regarded.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration And Benefits

A salary ranging from $82,422 per annum to $86,882 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
