The Independent National Security Legislation Monitor (the Monitor) is a statutory office holder who, with the support of a small team (the INSLM Office) independently reviews and reports on the operation, effectiveness and implications of Australia's national security and counterterrorism laws in accordance with the Independent National Security Legislation Monitor Act 2010 (INSLM Act).
The Executive Assistant / Office Manager (EA/OM) role was recently reviewed and re-imagined; the right candidate will draw upon their skills, initiative and judgement to play a key role in the effective operation of the INSLM Office. The small size and collaborative nature of the INSLM team provides a unique opportunity for the EA/OM to work across a broad range of activities, growing their skill set and experience. In addition to regular EA tasks such as coordinating the Monitor's diary, managing office correspondence, booking travel and purchasing goods and services, the EA/OM will also be integral to the coordination and delivery of stakeholder meetings and public hearings, the readying of reports for tabling in Parliament, and many other corporate activities. This role, while supported by a senior advisor and other team members, will provide a capable and motivated Executive Assistant with significant opportunities for growth and development.
We are open to engaging new staff from outside the APS, existing APS staff via direct transfer, or staff from other Commonwealth agencies (see s 33 of the INSLM Act).
