The IS Mechanical Designer II Role
This position involves designing mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles.
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to create unique high-level concepts and designs for assigned projects.
* Work closely with the team to ensure the successful execution of project goals.
* Conduct field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities.
* Produce design documents, including drawings, system flow diagrams, architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling.
* Deliver concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines.
* Contribute to all areas of the creative process and department.
* Perform work under direct supervision.
* Handle basic issues and problems, referring more complex issues to higher-level staff.
* Assist with developing technical reports or related documents.
* Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to team members.
* Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
* Associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
* 2-4 years' experience with building construction, especially mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or automatic temperature controls.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.
* Strong technical skills.
* Effective oral and written communications skills.
* Vision and Creativity.
* Ability to meet deadlines.
* Planning skills.
* Possesses beginning to working knowledge of the subject matter.
* Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree.
* Building Automation System design and sequence writing experience – Preferred systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium.
* HVAC Design and Commissioning experience – Preferred systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam.
* Higher Education and Healthcare design experience.
Travel Requirements and Physical/Work Environment
This role requires 10-25% travel time to job site(s)/office location.
The physical activities and environmental conditions for this role include:
* Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles.
* Climbing stairs.
* Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
* Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
* Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
The physical demands of this role include light work, adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
