Nichols Poultry was founded in 1988 by the Nichols family to be the leader in the industry for quality, sustainability and animal welfare.
An exciting opportunity exists for a full time HC Driver / Catcher to join our team based at the Nichols Poultry site in Sassafras in North West Tasmania.
The role of HC Driver / Catcher is critical in the daily operations of Nichols Poultry and is primarily responsible, as a member of a team, for the safe and humane catching of live birds and their transport to the factory.
The role is a permanent night shift role (which attracts a 30% loading) with travel required between grower sheds and the factory on a nightly basis.
The start times for shifts vary with the seasons (when it gets dark) and shifts can commence as early as 7pm and as late as 9pm. Public holiday work is a feature of this role and the first shift each week commences on a Sunday night.
This role includes paid annual leave of 5 weeks per annum.
The successful applicant will have:
Heavy Combination (HC) licence is essential
good communication and teamwork skills
commitment to enhance skills in manual handling and animal welfare
a commitment to work health and safety
being able to approach challenging situations with appositive attitude to find solutions
a reasonable level of physical fitness
Biosecurity compliance requires that applicants can not have any avian species (including chicken, ducks or caged pets) or pigs at home.
