About You
As part of this role, you will provide leadership to a team responsible for developing, implementing, and continually evolving a global multi-year Emerging Markets Procurement strategic roadmap and associated improvement initiatives that drive competitive advantage to BHP. You will be part of the Emerging Markets, Tyres & Explosives team within Global Procurement, working closely with internal customers across all Assets and Functions, as well as new and existing Emerging Markets suppliers, to shape how BHP leverages the technology, innovation, and cost advantages that non-traditional markets can offer.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Lead a team responsible for developing, adapting, and delivering BHP's emerging markets procurement strategy, managing implementation plans, prioritizing opportunities, and making risk trade-off recommendations across categories and regions of spend, executed through the sourcing cycle.
2. Frame, evaluate, and communicate risk-reward propositions of strategies, plans, and decisions, improving investment methodologies, processes, capabilities, and culture to enhance decisions and impact.
3. Build and manage strategic supplier relationships with prioritized suppliers to realize value through innovation, risk sharing, R&D, and active commercial partnerships.
4. Obtain the lowest Total Cost of Ownership for goods and services, ensuring value and quality through market research, supplier evaluation, and fact-based negotiation to achieve business outcomes.
5. Collaborate across teams to ensure category and sourcing strategies effectively consider emerging markets' value levers.
6. Apply intelligence on industry trends and market dynamics to drive enhanced decision-making and planning.
7. Mitigate risks related to people, community, human rights, environmental, and climate issues across the value chain, in alignment with public policy and our sustainability and climate commitments.
About You
1. 10+ years' experience in Procurement or related commercial roles.
2. Strong commercial acumen, demonstrating the ability to identify and embed innovative commercial models and solutions.
3. Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
4. Proven project management experience, including effective risk management.
5. Experience in strategic decision-making.
6. Influencing skills and experience leading people not directly in reporting lines.
7. Ability to build and lead an inclusive, high-performance team with a strong focus on cultural development and values.
