EL1 Assistant Director Workplace Integrity

Are you a seasoned HR professional with a passion for workplace ethics and legislative excellence? This is a rare opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership role within a major federal government agency, where you will manage complex people matters that define the integrity of the organisation. As an expert in workplace investigations and employee relations, you will navigate challenging environments with independence, providing strategic advice that fosters a safe, inclusive, and accountable culture.

This isn't just "HR support" it's a high-level investigative and advisory role where your independence and legislative rigor will directly influence agency-wide standards.

The Details

* Start: ASAP
* Contract End Date: 31 December 2026
* Pay Rate: $602.55 daily (plus superannuation).
* Locations Available: Newcastle, Charlestown, Gosford, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Taree, Tamworth
* Work Rights: Australian Citizenship required.

Key Responsibilities

* Case Management & Investigations: Lead Code of Conduct investigations and manage complex cases in accordance with the Public Service Act 1999.
* Strategic HR Advisory: Provide expert interpretation of APS HR legislation, Enterprise Agreements, and government policies to guide senior stakeholders.
* Dispute Resolution: Conduct primary Reviews of Action and manage external jurisdiction matters in collaboration with legal branches.
* Data-Driven Insights: Analyze case metrics and reporting to provide the executive team with timely data to steer the direction of people management.
* Policy Development: Review and manage internal policies while actively contributing to broader People & Culture policy initiatives.

Skills & Experience Required

* APS Legislative Mastery: Deep knowledge of the Public Service Act 1999, APS Commissioner's Directions, and broader employee relations frameworks.
* Investigative Rigor: Proven experience in workplace investigations; a Cert IV in Government Investigations is highly regarded.
* Professional Courage: The ability to provide frank and fearless advice, manage difficult conversations, and operate with significant independence.
* Strategic Communication: Exceptional report-writing skills and the ability to negotiate outcomes with diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
